“Bronzino. Artist and Poet at the Court of the Medici”

First exhibition dedicated entirely to the painter Agnolo di Cosimo, called the Bronzino (1503–1572), one of the most important artist of the 16th Century .
This unique event with more than 90 masterpieces on display, shows the talent of the painter, the history of the city of Florence and the artist's modern approach to painting.
Bronzino, who was not only painter but also poet, was named official portraitist of the Duke Cosimo and his family.
The Florentine exibition follows on from an earlier exhibition on the great court artist at New York's Metropolitan Museum “Drawings of Bronzino” that closed last April

While the New York exhibition concentrates on graphic production, Palazzo Strozzi focuses on paintings, including those commissioned by Duke Cosimo I de' Medici, providing an understanding of the poetry behind the masterpieces.
The paintings come from some of Florence's most prestigious institutions like the Uffizi Gallery are exhibited alongside those from the Louvre (Paris), New York's Metropolitan Museum and Vienna's Kunsthistorisches Museum, offering the public a truly outstanding art display.
