Cannareggio District Venice Tour: Jewish Ghetto, Madonna dell'Orto church and San Michele
Cannaregio, one of the six „sestieri“(or neighbourhoods), is a rather unspoilt part of town, still mostly inhabited by genuine Venetians. Past the busy open air market we’ll explore the Jewish Ghetto, and we’ll walk down along the luminous canals to the Gothic church of la Madonna dell’Orto that hosts some powerful canvases by Tintoretto (the great painter is actually buried there). Past this restful spot - at the extreme norhest point of town - a marvellous, melancholy view over the lagoon, with the cemetey island of San Michele, will open in front of us.
